went to the clinic to get my hepatitis A&B prevention jab last week. after the jab, showed the doc the bump on my toe as the pain was killing me, literally. anyway, the doc took a look at it and told my mum tht it's a corn. he then explained two methods to treat it.
1st method: put drops on it til it's cured but it'll take a long time plus it's not guaranteed tht it wont happen again.
2nd method: do a minor surgery to remove it.
my mum suggested tht i should do the minor surgery instead, on the spot. whoa, mii!!! i wasnt even emotionally prepared. my face turned pale. guessed the doc realised tht and asked me to return to the clinic when i was emotionally prepared. plus i couldnt do the minor surgery just yet as i was to be on medication if i did the the surgery. i just got my jab. it meant tht i had to wait a while before the surgery. it scared me to death!
few days to get me emotionally prepared. i went to the clinic on tues, just before the movie date with my sis, evelyn and karen to watch ghost rider. i waited anxiously for the nurse to call my name. finally the nurse called: ms lim...ms lim...
i didnt budge frm my seat, not cause i was too afraid to meet the doc..but erm, coz i forgot the fact tht i'm ms lim...lol...usually ppl call me kylie or min chien. so pai seh. my mum gave me a lil push and said: ehh...u are ms lim... i looked at her blankly. she laughed and reminded me tht i wasnt a kid anymore and thus ppl would address me as ms lim. ya hor.
i went into the room with mum. ya, i need my mum to be there with me! aiya, i always feel safer with my mum around. [which made my friends to laugh at me and bet on whether i would bring my mum with me on my 1st date. yeah, they were capital M-E-A-N, mean]. the doc explained to me what he gonna do to prevent any surprise element. i had to admit tht i looked so nervous. i laid on my tummy while waiting for the doc to start the minor surgery. he gonna give me to shots of anaesthetic. i was screaming like mad when he gave the 1st shot frm the rite angle, followed my 2nd shot frm the left angle onto my toe. haiz...my pain tolerant level was extremely low. my mum was laughing on the couch. thanx, mum! then she went on to tell the doc how i couldnt withstand lil pain and how evelyn wasnt even afraid of the major surgery she did previously.
the doc had to wait for the anaesthetic to take effect. i was so nervous tht i my palm sweat. i called out for my mum and said: mii, my palm is sweaty ad la. my mum mentioned something but i didnt hear. guess the doc must be thinking tht i acted like a small kid. lol...finally, the anaesthetic really took effect and the doc started to do his job,he kept asking me whether i felt the pain when he's removing it. guessed he was so shocked by my reaction when i screamed earlier.
after few secs, it was all done, including bandaging my toe. he even asked the nurse to show me the corn. it was big, tht explained the big swell on the back of my toe. i was chatting with my mu when the doc asked me whether i had any history of gastric pain. yes, i did! it was an extremely painful experience. anyway, the doc went on to scribble something on my health card before reminding me not to let my toe touch the water these few days.
after taking the med, which include a med to prevent gastric pain as the painkiller is kinda strong, we made our way back to the car. we had to walk for a distance. when we almost reach the car, i felt tht my flats was wet. the bleeding hadnt stop. we had to return to the clinic to change my bandage. indeed i bleed lots as the whole bandage was wet with my blood. the doc changed my bandage again. this time, finally we made our way home.
