one of the most important must do activities in hostel besides having steamboat is holding a b'day party. not everyone's b'day is celebrated as it has to coincide with our schedules. usually those lucky ones are july to september babies. it's when exam is over or most of us are just starting new semester. the workload study fever is not really intense yet.
i miss those moments of fun! the smile on everyone's face is simply marvellous. the loud laughters that break the tranquility of the night. the need for mr security guard to walk extra miles just to come knocking on the door to warn us not to disturb other occupants' peace. the constant flashing of cams and not to mention the numbness on the face as a result of wanting to look our best in pics. the cleaning of the mess or damage rectification after the party is over. sound familiar to many of you? come on, stop pretending to be an angel if you are staying away from your parents. *winks*
the joy on the b'day girl's face is always heartfelt. she's genuine smiling from the bottom of her heart. even if there isn't any b'day gifts, being with friends is the most precious gift she can ever wish for. the life after graduation will be totally different. besides the hectic schedules and deadlines to be met, most of us can't even find a decent time to gather again. it's not all bout time constraint anymore. it involves logistic problems too. for those who just begin your university or college life, remember to treasure those moments. seniors have always been telling me this but i don't feel the impact til now.
being carefree or at least brushing away any troubles for the moment just to indulge in craziness with friends. this time, we have dry park instead of a wetland. the damage control for having a dry park is much lesser compared to having a wetland.
we even take the effort of coming out with different ideas to hand the gifts over to the b'day girl. we've tried hide and seek style, sending nicely wrapped empty boxes which the b'day girl will unwrap with joy but to end up with disappointment before we bid each other good night and that's when she finds her gifts under her blanket, hiding the gifts in her laundry basket which are secured with airtight plastic bags as we don't want the gifts to be wet, sending her to knock on the door of the guy she secretly has crush on (this is a sticky task as we need to convince the guy to hand over the gifts without clearing his doubts bout something is amiss or confirm the possibility of her being his secret admirer), keeping the gifts in her closet when she's bathing, set up a treasure hunt for her and many more. brainstorming and teamwork are needed to accomplish this task!
of course the day won't be complete without them disturbing me. or perhaps trying to get on my nerves. tee huey always does that and runs for cover after that. she's smart to hide behind he ting who loves to tickle people and i happen to be afraid of that ticklish sensation.
have i ever mention that they love to snap pics with me after i change into my pyjamas? or sneakily calling my name after i've done my laundry to snap a candid pic of me? or even sneak into my room to continue posing after the party is over. being young has a difference! none of us feel fatigue after running errands the whole day just for the preparation of the designated party but if you ask me to do that now, i'll be whining bout i can hear my bones are breaking.
