having steamboat was a must do activity between me and my hostel friends when we were too lazy to leave the hostel or when we ran out of idea on what should we have for dinner. eating out wasn't an ideal activity for me anymore after i spent my days away from family. not only that i had to plan where should i head for my meals, i need to place orders as well. it's quite a difficult task especially when it seemed like i tried almost all cuisines during those period.
anyway, whenever we had steamboat, it actually involved lots of fun. the waiting for food to boil wasn't boring at all when the company i was with spells fun and crazy. though laughing and chatting at the dinner wasn't considered as an appropriate etiquette among chinese community we still put it into practice.
yin yun always loves to snap pics and record videos. she loves the idea of documenting happy moments with friends during university or college life. because of her love, we have lots of pics to remind us of those moments. it's true that people come and go throughout your life. some stay a little longer while others are just a passer-by in a phase of your life. the only way to keep all of us connected to each other is the memories we share. the path we cross together are not forgotten with the help of pics and videos.
p/s: the background voice belongs to yin yun. she has a really nice and sweet voice. *winks* i have always thought that she's one of the angels being sent to guide me through my life. sorry for the video quality, the videos aren't that dark when i view them from the CD.haha, don't focus on my aunty-lookalike hairstyle, too hungry to doll up before dinner that night. please don't ask me why i forget to introduce anyone in the group photo. i don't wish to remember the dark spot of my life where misery and mental torture are involved.
these videos were taken on 19th august 2003. not wanting to be make a fool out of ourselves, we would always ask the cameragirl whether she was shooting a pic or a video. haha, guess no one wants to be caught grinning at the cam when a video is being recorded, right?
while waiting for the food to boil, we teased he ting and shao bo bout their relationship. they used to appear in all outings together. they were like chopsticks. if you see shao bo, you would be able to spot he ting and vice versa. the both of them are from china and yeah, they are the ones being really strict with me when teaching me to speak mandarin.
siew khoon was shy when yin yun directed the attention to her. perhaps she should be taking lessons from shao bo and he ting.
this was my ex-roomie, tee huey. she was taking bath when we started to boil some food. after she's done with dolling up herself, she joined us. seeing yin yun was holding the cam, she was overexcited and pleaded us to wait for her. haha, after she realised that we were actually taking videos, she was too shocked and ran for cover.
guess once bitten, twice shy? *sticks out tongue* tee huey was really alert the next time yin yun directed the cam at her.
yin yun was still busy taking videos when the food was ready. haha, we had to force her to start her meal first before resuming her video recording sessions.
tee huey was still traumatised from the earlier event of her getting caught in a video without any warnings. this video was taken after i went back to my hostel apartment to retrieve the drinks from fridge. the ma lak steamboat almost killed my tongue nerves and not to mention numbing my lips.
